How many people does the apartment sleep?
6 adults – each of the two bedrooms can be set up as doubles or twins (please let us know in advance) plus there is a fully sprung double sofa bed (suitable for everyday use).

How much do I need to pay now?
20% deposit (non refundable) if you are booking more than 8 weeks ahead.
If less than 8 weeks, 100%.

Do I need a car?
You do not need one but you may want one - if you want to do lots of visiting then you will find it useful.
In terms of getting to Cabanas from the airport, you can drive or go by taxi, transfer (easiest option) and there is also the option of public transport.
Once there, there is a bus stop at the end of the street which can take you to Tavira in 10 minutes and also give access to buses along the Algarve.
Conceicao – 5 minutes walk - has a train station which again runs the length of the Algarve – see getting around section for more details.

What sporting activities are there?
See Activities section for details - these include golf, walking, kitesurfing, diving, windsurfing, tennis.

Where is there to go and visit?
Where to start!
Within 30 minutes drive you will find:
Milreu – Roman ruins with famous dolphin mosaics
Estoi – palace and gardens
Reserva Natural da Ria Formosa – this covers Ilha da Cabanas and there is a visitors centre at Quinta do Marim
Olhao – fishing port with large market ( daily except Sunday)
Rio Guardiana forms the border with Spain and the Castro Marim Nature Reserve and castle
Faro old town – cathedral, archaeological museum and churches
And only 10 minutes away Tavira with a castle with excellent views a Roman bridge and over 30 churches. Many are accessible by bus and train.

Also you can reach Seville in 90 minutes.

Is it suitable for children? What is there for them to do?
Very much so. The apartment is on the ground floor with only 5 steps up. All of the windows have bars up to adult waist height and even if they climbed over there is a short distance down. The area all around the apartment is pedestrianised
The doors are very secure and all windows have security shutters.
The pools are gated to prevent entry by non-residents – of course no child should be left there alone.
In terms of activities, the 4 pools and short walk to the beach will keep most kids very happy! In addition there is a play park at the end of the block.
The Portuguese love kids and will happily see them in restaurants at 10pm.

Can I smoke in the apartment?
Sorry – no.

Can I bring my pet?
Sorry – no.

Is 7 days the only possible duration?
Outside of July and August, any duration from 3 days onwards is possible – see the prices section for more details.

What is the best way to get from Faro airport?
The easiest option is to pre book a transfer – and we can make some suggestions when you contact us.
They take around 45 minutes and cost around £12 per person each way.
If there are 3 or more then a private taxi costs about the same.
You could use trains and buses but they can be quite time consuming.
There are lots of car hire options and Faro and the drive to the apartment is pretty easy.

What are the check in / check out times?
Arrival from 4pm and depart by 10am but we will try to be as flexible as we can.
The most important thing is to let us have your flight times then we can see what we can do locally to accommodate you.

What if I need to cancel?
If you cancel at least 8 weeks before departure, you will forfeit your deposit only.
30 to 60 days, 50%, less than 30 days, 100%.

How far is the beach?
It is 350-400metres to the sea front, dependant on the route you take.
There is a small town beach but a far better one with golden fine sand and a gently sloping sea is on Cabanas Island – 150m by boat. This takes only about 2 minutes to cross and costs one euro return. At the other end it is 300m along a boardwalk, which is suitable for pushchairs but not wheelchairs

What are the swimming pools like?
There are 4 identical pools, all security gated measuring around 15m by 8m. One side is formed of gentle steps down.

What do I need to bring?
Really just your own personal possessions. We provide all bedding (except for travel cot) and towels, a hairdryer, Hi Fi (so bring some CDs or tapes!). If you have any specific queries or would like a copy of the inventory, please contact us.
